I don’t cook or bake often. My scope of meals stops and starts at chicken and veg. I used to bake cakes or make a toad in the hole but I have got out of the habit of doing so. I wanted to change this and make or bake something every weekend. I thought I’d start simple, raw protein bars, a sweet snack for when I’m craving chocolate and something that couldn’t possibly go wrong! Well, when you have the ingredients needed that is!

The original recipe is from the ultimate protein pow(d)er cook book.

This is the original recipe vs what I actually used:

1 tablespoon coconut oil – used it

2 tablespoons cocoa powder –  hot chocolate powder

1/4 cup unflavoured whey protein powder – chocolate flavoured protein powder

1 tablespoon coconut flour – plain flour

2 tablespoons goji berries – chopped dates

2 tablespoons almond milk – used it

1 tablespoon toffee flavouring drops or your sweetener of choice – half Walgreens pancake syrup half Walgreens caramel syrup

2 tablespoons chopped hazelnuts – used it

To see the rookie video and the resulting squishy stuff I made, see the video below!

Enjoy (and don’t judge)!
